Gloucestershire is a wonderful area to explore, and from which to explore nearby places.  Using Cheltenham, Gloucester or Tewkesbury as a base, you can easily reach neighbouring Avon, Monmouthshire, Oxfordshire, Somerset, Warwickshire, Wiltshire and Worcester.  Gloucestershire itself affords many interesting opportunities.  The M5 and other roads make travel easy and quick.

The geology of this area varies widely, from chalk through limestone and sandstone to the ancient rocks of the Malvern Hills.  This leads to the existence a great variety of plants in the Cotswolds, Forest of Dean, Malvern Hills, Severn valley, Somerset Levels, Wiltshire Downs, and so on.

Animal life, too is well represented in the area.  Birds, insects, mammals and reptiles are well represented.  Many of the photographs in this web-site were taken in Gloucestershire.
